Our Church Services

Services and Events in our Churches over the next two weeks

On Sunday 30th August 2026 it is Trinity 13 and there will be a single 5th Sunday Special Church Family service of Holy Communion at 10.30am at Stainton Church at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild will preside and which, weather permitting, will be held outdoors – if you are able to bring a folding chair that would be great!

Editor’s note: there will NOT be a service at Hilton Church or at Brookfield Church on that day.

The scripture passages set in the Lectionary for Trinity 13 are:

  • Jeremiah 15:15-21
  • Psalm 26:1-8
  • Romans 12:9-21
  • Matthew 16:21-end

The Diocesan Reflection for Trinity 13 will be given by the Most Revd and Rt Hon Stephen Cottrell, our Archbishop of York. Archbishop Stephen will reflect on the Gospel passage set for that day (Matthew 16:21-end). The Reflection can be found at this link from about the Thursday before that Sunday

 

On Tuesday 1st September 2026 at 9.30am at Stainton Church; there will be a half-hour Church Family Prayer Gathering.

On Wednesday 2nd September 2026 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church there will be a service of Holy Communion at which our Pioneer Minister Revd Vanessa Kirby will preside.

On Sunday 6th September 2026 it is Trinity 14; in addition, along with many other churches, we shall be celebrating the new Feast of Christ in Creation. There will be services as follows:

At 9.30m at Hilton Church a service of Holy Communion to celebrate Harvest;

At 9.30am at Brookfield Church a service of Holy Communion;

At 11.00am at Stainton Church a Café Church service of informal worship, with quizzes and discussions and also some simple refreshments [Editor’s note: there will not be Holy Communion at this service]; and

At 4.00pm at Brookfield Church a Church Family at 4 service.

The scripture passages set in the Lectionary for the Feast of Christ in Creation (the first Sunday in September) are:

  • Isaiah 55:12-end
  • Psalm 96
  • Colossians 1:15-20
  • Matthew 8:23-27 or John 1:1-14

The Diocesan Reflection for Trinity 14 / Christ in Creation will be given by the Rt Revd Dr Eleanor Sanderson, Bishop of Hull. Bishop Eleanor reflects on the Gospel passages set for that day (Matthew 8:23-27 and John 1:1-14). The Reflection can be found at this link from about the Thursday before that Sunday

 

On Tuesday 8th September 2026 at 9.30am at Stainton Church there will be a half-hour Church Family Prayer Gathering

On Wednesday 9th September 2026 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church there will be a service of Holy Communion, at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside.

On Thursday 10th September 2026 at 11.00am in Hilton Church there will be a Bible Conversation session.
