Our Church Services

Services and Events in our Churches over the next two weeks

On Sunday 28th June 2026 it is Trinity 4 – it is also the Feast of St Peter and St Paul (transferred from Monday 29th June) and there will be services as follows:

At 9.30am at Brookfield Church a service of Holy Communion at which Revd Vanessa will preside;

At 11.00am at Stainton Church a Patronal Festival service of Holy Communion at which Revd Laura will preside; and

At 4.00pm at Hilton Church a special service of Songs of Praise to celebrate St Peter, also led by Revd Laura.

At 6.00pm at Stainton Church an organ recital, given by the Rt Revd Paul Ferguson, our former Bishop of Whitby. The recital will be followed by some light refreshments. There is no admission charge to attend the recital – but generous donations to Stainton Church to support its work in our Parish of Stainton with Hemlington will be gratefully received.

The scripture passages set in the Lectionary for St Peter and St Paul are

  • Acts 2:1-11
  • Psalm 125
  • 2 Timothy 4:6-8;17-18
  • Matthew 16:13-19 (for Trinity 4 the Gospel is: Matthew 10:40-end)

The Diocesan Reflection for Trinity 4 will be given by the Rt Revd Dr Flora Winfield, Bishop of Selby. Bishop Flora reflects on the Gospel passage set for that day (Matthew 10:40-end) and also the Petertide ordinations taking place in York Minster that weekend. On Monday 29th June 2026 at 6.30pm in Stainton Church Parish Room; there will be the fourth session of our seven-week “Bereavement Journey”.

On Tuesday 30th June 2026 at 9.30am at Stainton Church there will be a half-hour Church Family Prayer Gathering.

On Wednesday 1st July 2026 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church there will be a service of Holy Communion at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside.

On Wednesday 1st July 2026 at 2.00pm in Hilton Village Hall there will be the monthly Gathering for Afternoon Refreshments.  Gill Sheret may be reached on 01642 598218 to take your reservations.

At 9.30am at Hilton Church a service of Holy Communion at which our guest Priest, Revd Marie Edwards, will preside;

At 9.30am at Brookfield Church a service of Holy Communion at which our Pioneer Priest, Revd Vanessa Kirby, will preside; and

At 11.00am at Stainton Church a Baptism service led by Revd Vanessa; and followed by

Note the later start time - At 11.30am at Stainton Church a Café Church service of informal worship, discussions and quizzes led by our Church Warden, Vernon Clare [Editor’s note: there will NOT be Communion at this service].

The scripture passages set in the Lectionary for Trinity 5 are:

  • Zechariah 9:9-18
  • Psalm 145:8-15
  • Romans 7:15-25a
  • Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30

The Diocesan Reflection for Trinity 5 will be given by the Venerable Dr Amanda Bloor, our Archdeacon of Cleveland. Archdeacon Amanda will reflect on the Gospel passage set for that day (Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30). The Reflection can be found at this link from about the Thursday before that Sunday.

 

On Monday 6th July 2026 at 6.30pm in Stainton Church Parish Room; there will be the fifth session of our seven-week “Bereavement Journey”.

On Tuesday 7th July 2026 at 9.30am at Stainton Church; there will be a half-hour Church Family Prayer Gathering.

On Wednesday 8th July 2026 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church there will be a service of Holy Communion.

On Saturday 11th July 2026 at 1.00pm to 4.00pm there will be the annual Hilton Village Fête
