Services and Events in our Churches over the next two weeks
On Saturday 21st March 2026 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church Hall there will be a Charity Coffee Morning in aid of the The Unicorn Centre (Riding for the Disabled).

On Sunday 22nd March 2026 – Lent 5 – it is also Passion Sunday - and we continue our series of Lenten sermons based on the Church Urban Fund (CUF) “Growing Good” material. Our “Growing Good” theme for this Sunday is Participation
At 10.30am at Hilton Church there will be a single Joint Church Family (Plurality) “5th Sunday Special” (*) Holy Communion Service, at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild will preside, assisted by our Pioneer Priest, Revd Vanessa Kirby, and our Guest Priest, Revd Marie Edwards, Chaplain at Hild‑Bede College, Durham University. [Editor’s note: There will NOT be any service at Stainton Church or at Brookfield Church on that day].
(*) Funnily enough, exceptionally, this “5th Sunday Special HC Service” is actually on the 4th Sunday in March, in order that there can be services in each of the three Churches on the 29th March 2026, which is Palm Sunday.
The scripture passages we will use at these services are:
- Lectionary choice Ezekiel 37:1-14
- Growing Good choice Matthew 4:18-22
The Diocesan Reflection for Lent 3 will be given by the Rt Revd Barry Hill, our Bishop of Whitby. Bishop Barry reflects on the Lectionary Gospel passage set for this Sunday (the raising of Lazarus as recounted in John 11:1-45). You can find the Reflection at this link.
On Monday 23rd March 2026 at 11.15am for one hour at Brookfield Church Hall there will be an opportunity to “Continue the Conversation” about the Growing Good sermon theme preached at the services the day before, led by our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild.
On Tuesday 24th March 2026 at 9.30am at Stainton Church; there will be a half-hour Plurality Prayer Gathering.
On Wednesday 25th March 2026 at 10.00am at Brookfield Church there will be a service of Holy Communion.
On Saturday 28th March 2026 at 9.30am at Hilton Church there will be a “all hands on deck” tidy up of the Church and Churchyard – all volunteers will be very welcome.

On Sunday 29th March 2026 it is Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week – and we continue our series of Lenten sermons based on the Church Urban Fund (CUF) “Growing Good” material. Our “Growing Good” theme for this Sunday is Justice and there will be services as follows:
At 9.30am at Brookfield Church a service of Holy Communion at which our Guest Priest, Revd Marie Edwards, Chaplain at Hild-Bede College at Durham University, will preside.
At 11.00am at Stainton Church a service of Holy Communion at which Revd Marie Edwards, will also preside.
At 3.00pm at Hilton Church there will be a Family Easter Crafts session, followed at 4.00pm by a Palm Procession around Hilton Village led by our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild.

- Growing Good choice John 4:1-25

On Holy Wednesday 1st April 2026 there will be online Compline (Night Prayer) led by our vicar, Revd Laura Wild – more details of how to take part will follow shortly
On Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) 2nd April 2026 at 6.00pm at Stainton Church there will be a “bring and share meal” to commemorate The Last Supper and which will be followed by Holy Communion at which our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild, will preside
On Good Friday (Holy Friday) 3rd April 2026 at 10.00am till 12.00noon there will be a Family Easter Crafts session at Brookfield Church.
On Good Friday (Holy Friday) 3rd April 2026 there will be opportunities to spend “an Hour at the Cross” reflecting on the enormity of the crucifixion of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, as follows:
- At 12.00 noon at Brookfield Church;
- At 1.00pm at Stainton Church; and
- At 2.00pm at Hilton Church.
On Holy Saturday 4th April 2026 at 10.00am til 12.00noon there will be a Family Easter Crafts session at Stainton Church.
On Holy Saturday 4th April 2026 at 8.00pm there will be an Easter Eve service of Holy Communion at Stainton Church.
On Easter Day Sunday 5th April 2026 there will be services as follows:
At 9.30am at Hilton Church an Easter Day Holy Communion at which our guest Priest, Revd Marie Edward, will preside;
At 9.30am at Brookfield Church an Easter Day Holy Communion at which our Pioneer Minister, Revd Vanessa Kirby, will preside; and
At 11.00am at Stainton Church in the Parish Room an Easter Day Café Church service of informal worship, discussion, quizzes and simple refreshments, led by our Vicar, Revd Laura Wild and during which there will be an Easter Egg Hunt in the Church [Editor’s note: There will NOT be Communion at this service].
